Track your favourite cricket
stars easily on CEAT Cricket ratings.
Mumbai, November 18, 2002 : So much of cricket
being played! So many records being made and broken!
Huge sponsorship deals. Larger than life image leading
to a near celebrity status. So much to write about!
So much to read about the most popular game in the world
today.
Even for an avid cricket fan it is becoming
extremely difficult to keep track of international cricket
calendar and follow his favourite cricketer's performance.
Thanks to the CEAT Cricket Rating, it has become
much easier to follow a team or a cricketer's performance.
CEAT CRICKET RATING were set up in the year 1995
and have since then tracked international cricket through
a logical and easy to understand system under the guidance
and supervision of three of world's biggest cricket
legends, Sunil Gavaskar, Clive Lloyd and Ian Chapel.
The CEAT CRICKET RATING gives
us a clear picture of a player's consistency level and
has over the years become a benchmark within the cricketing
fraternity in particular and fans in general to track
and evaluate a player's as well as a team's level of
competency and ability to remain in the reckoning.
Some interesting facts can be gathered
if one compares the ratings over a period of time. As
on 30 April last year South Africa was on top of the
list and was the No. 1 cricket team of the year. While,
the top three slots in the international cricketer category
were all Sri Lankans, M Muralitharan, Marvan Atapattu
and Sanath Jayasurya followed by Jacques Kallis and
Sachin Tendulkar.
During this period it was Atapattu who
was heading followed by Sachin as far as batting is
concerned. And in the bowling category it was Murali
followed closely by Courtney Walsh.
If we now follow the current status we
will find even after so much of cricket certain cricketers
have managed to keep their form intact and keep their
positions in the top five consistently. To this one
must praise wholeheartedly Murali for his fantastic
performances match after match and also both Sanath
and Atapattu's consistent performance. Of course one
must add Sachin's name here as a player of immense consistency
as he has always to be there in the top five in all
the CEAT years barring 1995-96.
Also, if one closely watches the weekly
rating one will find the stiff competition among Indian
players. From the way things are at this juncture Virender
Sehwag seems to be the man to watch from India in the
near future. He is already in a short span of time sitting
pretty among the top 5. As of 18th November 2002, he
is at No 4. He along with Rahul Dravid at the top of
the heap, Harbhajan at No. 3 and Sachin Tendulkar at
the fifth slot have dominated the CEAT Cricket Ratings.
Thanks to their brilliant performances India is at the
top of the CEAT Team Ratings ahead of
Australia.
CEAT CRICKET RATING has
come a long way since 1995 and now forms a backbone
in International Cricket Rating, which is keenly followed
by, fans, cricketing fraternity and media.
