CEAT announces winners of the 8th Annual CEAT
International Cricket Rating Awards
October 29, 2003 –
CEAT Cricket Rating today announced the winners of the
8th Annual CEAT International Cricket Rating
Awards for the year 2002-2003. The awards,
a-la Oscars for the international cricket fraternity,
are to recognise the sterling performance across 7 categories.
The awardees will be honoured with exclusive trophies
and prize money worth rupees two million.

Announcing the winners, Harsh Goenka,
Vice Chairman, CEAT Limited, said, “We are delighted
to honour the talents and hard work of the winners and
celebrate their victory along with cricket enthusiasts
across the globe. I congratulate our award winners and
salute all those who have made it to the top in the
CEAT Cricket Ratings.”
The CEAT Panel of Judges for
the nominate awards includes
ex-cricketers Ajit Wadekar and Sanjay Manjrekar and
eminent journalists Ayaz Memon and Lokendra Pratap Sahi.
The recipients in 7 different categories
will be honoured with the Ceat Awards during the star-studded
8th Annual CEAT International Cricket Rating Awards
ceremony to be held on October 31, 2003, at Hotel Taj
Mahal, Mumbai.
The CEAT International Cricket Rating,
now into its ninth year, comprises a Player rating and
a Team rating. Performances of cricketers and cricket
teams in Tests and one-day internationals from May 1st
to April 30th are tracked and rated through a comprehensive
and easy to understand points system. The player and
team that top the rating are declared the CEAT International
Cricketer of the Year and the CEAT International Team
of the Year respectively.
Previous winners of the CEAT International
Cricketer of the Year Award are Brian Lara (1995-96),
Venkatesh Prasad (1996-97), Sanath Jayasuriya (1997-98),
Jacques Kallis (1998-99), Sourav Ganguly (1999-00) and
Muttiah Muralitharan (2000-01 & 2001-02). The CEAT
International Cricket Team Award has been won by Pakistan
(1996-97), Australia (1997-98, 1999-00, 2001-02) and
South Africa (1998-99 and 2000-01).
