| Pakistan
wins Sharjah Cup, still trails India in Ceat Cricket
Ratings
Mumbai, April 11, 2003 :
With four consecutive victories at the Sharjah
Quadrangular tournament Pakistan has moved past the
West Indies into the 4th spot in the CEAT International
Team Ratings. In the Ceat International Cricket Team
category Australia still holds the top spot, followed
by South Africa at number 2 position and India at Number
3 position.
With just three weeks left before the
end of the CEAT Year 2002 – 03, the race is hotting
up for the Ceat International Cricketer of the year,
as only 4 points separate the Top 3 players. With Rahul
Dravid not playing in the Dhaka Tournament and Gayle
missing out on the first Test against the Aussies, the
field is wide open for the most coveted award of the
8-year-old Ceat International Cricket Ratings.
It is going to be a nail biting finish
for the top spot in the Ceat Cricket Ratings and the
forthcoming Dhaka tourney will be an acid test for our
Sehwag. Sehwag is currently at No 5 with 83 batting
points and has the ability and aptitude to topple the
other 4 to come up on top.
The other four players in the race are
Chris Gayle (93 points), Rahul Dravid (91), Herschelle
Gibbs (89) and Sanath Jayasurya (85).
The CEAT International Cricket
Rating, now into its eighth year, comprises a Player
rating and a Team rating. Performances of cricketers
and cricket teams in Tests and one-day internationals
from 1st May to 30th April are tracked and rated through
a comprehensive & easy to understand points system.
The player and team that top the rating are declared
the CCR International Cricketer of the Year and the
CCR International Team of the Year respectively.
