| Sachin
leads CEAT World Cup Rating
Mumbai, March 7, 2003 : Sachin
Tendulkar has consolidated his position at the top of
the CEAT World Cup Rating with his scintillating innings
of 98 against the old enemy. On the eve of the Super
Six stage of the World Cup, Sachin ranks first in the
CEAT World Cup Rating with 20 points. The second spot
is held by West Indian Vasbert Drakes, but he will not
be able to add to his tally of 16 points with his team
having been eliminated from the competition. The same
is the case with Herschelle Gibbs, whose tally of points
has frozen at 14. A man very much in the fray for the
CEAT World Cup Cricketer Award is Chaminda Vaas, Sri
Lanka’s Man of the Tournament, who is currently
tied with Gibbs at the third spot.
Chris Gayle has regained the top spot
in the overall CEAT Cricket Rating courtesy his brilliant
119 in the final league match against Kenya. The West
Indian opener’s current tally of points is 93,
four more than Herschelle Gibbs. Rahul Dravid holds
the third spot with 88 points.
The awesome Aussies have increased their
lead in the CEAT Team Rating and presently stand at
103 points, 18 more than their closest rivals South
Africa. India stand third with 74 points. Virender Sehwag’s
consistent catching has enabled him to earn the top
spot in the overall CEAT Fielders’ Table with
11 points. Sehwag holds the seventh spot in the overall
rating with 78 points, only four ahead of the current
no. 8 Sachin Tendulkar.
