CEAT
Cricket Rating - Gayle, Australia close in on Dravid,
India.
In a week that witnessed yet another
English defeat at the hands of their old rivals and
some forgettable crowd behaviour in India, the West
Indian opener Chris Gayle moved to the second spot in
the CEAT Cricket Rating for the year 2002-03. Gayle's
back-to-back knocks of 103 and 72 in the second and
third one-day internationals against India enabled him
to move three pegs up from the no. 5 spot that he held
last week. He now has a tally of 56 points. Behind him
in the Rating are Indians Harbhajan Singh, Virender
Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar with 55, 54 and 52 points
respectively.
Rahul Dravid continues to top the Rating
with a tally of 67 points.
Australia, ranked third in the CEAT Team
Rating last week, have moved up to the second spot after
their 384-run drubbing of England in the first Test
of the 'Ashes' series. They now have a total of 50 points,
only six less than current toppers India. Sri Lanka
have not added to their previous week's tally of 47
points and are ranked third.
