Indian
team in the running for the top spot in Ceat Cricket
Ratings.
Mumbai September 23, 2002: 'Team
India' holds the second spot in the CEAT Team Rating
with 30 points. A victory in the ICC Champions Trophy
will propel Sourav Ganguly's side past the current toppers
Sri Lanka, who are nine points ahead.
Looking at the consistency of the Indian
team in the recent past, it does not seem to be a difficult
task for Saurav and his boys to emerge as top team in
the Champions Trophy and beat Sri Lanka to the top spot
of the Ceat Cricket rating.
Rahul Dravid, India's most successful
batsman in the Test series against England continues
to hold the top spot in the CEAT Cricket Rating for
the year 2002-03. Dravid, whose tally of points was
53 at the end of the Test series, gained two more points
by virtue of his classy 71 against Zimbabwe in the ICC
Champions Trophy.
Behind Dravid in the Rating is England's
Michael Vaughan, whose tally of points is 46. Sanath
Jayasuriya and Marcus Trescothick, both of whom scored
centuries in their respective teams' first matches in
the ICC Champions Trophy, hold the third and fourth
spots respectively. The only other Indian in the top
ten is Sachin Tendulkar, who is ranked sixth with 39
points.
Mohd. Kaif who scored a match-winning
111 against Zimbabwe has jumped up 30 spots from last
week and is currently at the 38th position with 14 points.
