fight between Dravid and Gayle for top spot in Ceat
Cricket Rating
Mumbai, 13th December
2002: Rahul Dravid may
have lost the top spot in the overall CEAT Cricket Rating
for 2002-03 to West Indian Chris Gayle, but he continues
to head the batting and fielding tables.
Dravid has to his
credit 70 batting points, seven more than Gayle. He
heads the fielding table with nine points. His teammate
Harbhajan Singh heads the bowling table with 52 points,
a clear 11 more than previous year's overall topper
Muttiah Muralitharan.
Gayle heads the overall
rating with 80 points, and Dravid is just one point
behind with 79.
Australia and India maintain their first
and second spots and tally of points (62 and 60 respectively)
in the Team rating. Just three points behind India are
their traditional rivals Pakistan, who thrashed South
Africa by 182 runs in the second one-day international
between the two teams. The Proteas, by virtue of their
one-day series win over Sri Lanka and the victory in
the first one-dayer against Pakistan, are ranked fourth
in the rating with 56 points.
