CEAT Lifetime Achievement
Award - Sunil Gavaskar
The
'Little Master' rewrote the record books in a 16 year-long
career from 1971 to 1987. He was an extraordinary batsman,
a competent fielder and a tactically astute skipper.
He was the first cricketer to play 100 consecutive Test
matches, and he still holds the record for scoring the
maximum number of Test hundreds (34).
The first batsman in the history of Test cricket to
score 10,000 runs, he is today one of the most respected
senior statesmen of the game. The master batsman is
now a revered journalist, a popular commentator and
an ace administrator.
