CEAT International Fielder of the Year - Mark Waugh

Probably the best catcher the game has ever known, Mark Waugh holds the world record for the highest number of catches in Test cricket, 172 (till the end of the second Test against South Africa in March 2002). During the CEAT Year 2000-2001, he was as always brilliant in the field, whether fielding in the slips or in the infield.

His best game in the CEAT Year was the third Test of the historic series between Australia and India. He held six catches in all, including four in the crucial fourth innings as the Indians struggled to reach a target of 155. In the end, India won, but all those who watched the game still remember Waugh's sensational catch to send back V.V.S. Laxman in that tense fourth innings.
